Freedom From Fear

For those who believe there is a realm beyond our senses, Mr. Livingston's book is a great treatise on the subject. It exposes the nature of forces many of us are unaware of and understand very little about.
As an example ghosts are disembodied spirits that don't know they're dead. They search for hosts who will enable them to feel more alive. In scripture there are many referrences to various spirits: a dumb spirit, an unclean spirit, a lustful spirit, a spirit of anger, these spirits seek hosts ignorant of their devices to actualize their desires.
I no longer have to live in fear of the supernatural and it's forces because I understand as long as i don't surrender my will they are powerless.

Excellent work

I happened to come across this book by chance, and I'm glad I did. Once I started the book I couldn't put it down. He gives very good descriptions to what the attachment are and how they can affect the people they are attached to. If you read this book with an open mind it can change the way you think.

Even more than meets the eye

I accidentally stumbled on this book in the store. At first glance I thought it would be a great book to teach my young son about some of the mathematical principles, but this book is so much more. The book has theories, functions, principles, but more so, it has historical origin of some of those solutions and how they were derived. I thought it was an amazing piece of literature to have in the household, but then realized it is even more. My daughter's boyfriend is a math guru. He read and reads very advanced mathematical books and when I presented him with his own copy of this little gem, he found it to be a great addition to his library of books on the topic. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone at any level. It is a must have.

Math for non math thinking people

This book is actually interesting! It explains mathematical principles in an understandable way, in a historical format from the begining of number use to the present day- or at least up to time of publication. It has interesting facts and philosophical information, along with dates of the "discovery" and the names of the people who came up with the principles and theories. I love how it demystifies math and shows how theories and principles evolved over time. And it's a pretty little book! Hard to find, as I think it may be out of print right now. Look for it used! I got a "new" copy from a used bookseller on Amazon and it was in perfect condition.

A powerful little book, terse and clear in its 1-2 page explanations, with a brief summary of the key principles involved, explanatory diagrams, and the name of the author and year of discovery.

Few topics in mathematics are left untouched -- from A to Z; i.e., from Archimedes to Zeno; from Relativity and Quantum Mechanics to Catastrophe Theory; from Chaos Theory to Zeno's and Russell's paradoxes, and Godel's Theorem, to the Traveling Salesman's Problem and everything in between.

Well organized and carefully researched.

Must have reference

If you are going to spend money, buy the best. This book is the best and IS the standard. I'd consider this the "Gray's Anatomy" of Applied Linear Statiscal Models (i.e. Design of Experiments, Regression, hypothesis testing).

This book is geared for an entry level masters or 400 level student. If you don't fall into this category, this could be worthwhile, just know you'll need to put more time in to learn the material...or...you could get a book geared toward your level. Vardeman's applied statistics for engineers would be one that comes to mind for subject matter that is geared for knowledge below KNNW's Applied Linear Statistical Models.

Bottom line is that this is a must have in anyone's library who is going to do statistical analysis using linear models. It's one of my (and most of my co-workers) go to books if we need to refresh on a quick method to approach a problem.

All in all, it covers all the basics and for the money is a great applied book.

This book if not for business majors , engineering students and psycology students.

This is an EXCELLENT book for statistics undergrad/grad and PhD students.

I spent over 10 hours weekly just reading the book every week. Plus my assignments will take another 10 hours . So be prepared for a 20 hr week.

YOU NEED TO TAKE A BASIC STAT / INTRO STAT course before this. If you dont know the meaning of P-values , T-test , F-test , DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE. This book will not introduce you to those things. Unfortunately many buiness schools ( including top 10 ) dont offer a good intro stat course, so buiness majors jumping in to this course is a wrong idea.

This book is also a "good to own book". The first 15 or so chapters has regression and the second half ( next 15 chapters ) has DOE (design of experiments). GREAT BOOK !

One piece of advice - make sure you learn to use SAS with this course . In real world applications many industries are using SAS. Even if your teacher insists on using R package / splus , YOU MAKE SURE YOU know how to do those things in SAS . There is a SAS student manual with this book, specially written for this book . buy it ISBN - 0-07-302177-6

This is the textbook for my applied linear model course. The book itself fits most ordinary students, whether they are in stat or non-stat majors. Just be sure you have the prerequisites such as basic stat concepts and techniques. It's thick. Text is not short. Well organized though.
If you care about money, don't buy the US version Applied Linear Statistical Models. Just go somewhere else and grab the international version. It's the same...and much cheaper...comes with CD and wrapped...

About the Author
Professor Tariq Muneer, BEng(Hons), MSc, PhD, DSc, CEng, MIMechE, FCIBSE, Millennium Fellow is currently Professor in Energy Engineering at Napier University, Edinburgh. Professor Muneer has been engaged in research work related to understanding the physics of terrestrial solar radiation. Undertaken in four continents across the world, the results of his 25 years of painstaking work are now being used as the basis for all slope energy calculations across the European Union and the United Kingdom. The work has been published in over a hundred technical articles and three major research monographs. Professor Muneer has contributed very widely towards the development of science and technology of energy systems. At Napier University he chairs a large research programme on the measurement and utilisation of solar energy. Professor Muneer is an international authority on solar radiation, daylight illuminance modelling, and solar energy utilisation. He is chairman of the Chartered Institution of Building Service Engineers' (London) solar data task group, and in this capacity he has been involved in the production of the CIBSE Guide J for weather and solar data. Professor Muneer has written 5 books and over 140 articles. His awards include the Royal Academy of Engineering ESO, Leverhulme Trust and University College, Oxford/General Electric Company research fellowships, Osmania University's Karamet Jung Gold Medal, and the CIBSE Carter and Napier Shaw Bronze Medals, and the Society for Light & Lighting's Best Article Award. To date Professor Muneer has successfully produced 12 PhD and 3 MPhil graduates with a further 6 supervisees awaiting their doctoral completions.

Help Others Give You What You Want

Getting what you need and/or want is not necessarily being greedy or selfish. It is reality and we all work towards pleasing ourselves. That often means we must please others to get what we need. Serving others, for example, is a way of getting what we want. It's a system that works well for all involved and Your Magic Powers of Persuasion is an excellent way to hone your persuasion skills!

I have researched a few other titles in the past, starting with one of the first ever decades ago called When I Say No I Feel Guilty, and I must say that a lot of progress has been made in this area since then and Your Magic Powers of Persuasion is ample evidence. And this isn't some pamphlet disguised as a "book" either, it's jam-packed and thick, full of great advice on knowing exactly how to persuade given difference circumstances you find yourself in. What I appreciated most is the chapter I need most and that is, "You Can Be Quickly Liked and Appreciated." I come off as gruff because I am a little shy so this gave me new techniques to try when being in new groups that will enable me to feel more at ease and get the rapport going better than I have been in the past.

A Real Screen Slider

I got this book on my kindle fire in hopes of unlocking my secret powers of persuasion (hence the title). Before I started reading, I was hoping for immediate results. Unfortunately, that was not the case. As I continued to read I realized that most of the methods in this book are self-train methods, and that's where the journey begins. It isn't action filled and isn't for those who don't like reading because it is fairly long. Remember when reading this book that the direct approach upon persuading an individual is almost never the way. While persuading someone remember SWAY which you will read about in chapter two. The chapters are fairly long and start to become boring. Be prepared for multiple pages of worksheets that get you ready for persuading for real. I evaluate this book as a well set, short textbook with activities and all. It makes you want to keep reading to see what happens, what you can learn. You, in turn for buying the book, are able to persuade and command who you please to do so. With only the will power and skill provided by this book, along with human nature and a humans want for being loved and needed. It is a very educational book and very eye opening. With so little good books in the world, this one could start a new generation of educational novels that the new children of the world needs. It ends very smoothly, but it does need to explain the persuading methods more entertainingly and clearly. It is a very interesting ebook for most ages.

Great examples, and overall good work.

Great that the author explains the difference between persuasion and manipulation; this helps many people feel more comfortable about persuading; no longer like they're taking advantage of someone else. The examples given are wonderful, and really explain exactly what the author meant.

Some of the information was a little off, or contradicted itself, or was hypocritical at times. Regardless of this, it is an overall very usefull and informative peice. I would definately recommend this.

About the Author
Douglas Johnson was self taught in computer science and became a Research and Development engineer in his early twenties without a college degree. After several years, he left engineering to attend university where he completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics with a Concentration in Physics, graduating Summa Cum Laude (with highest honors) in just 3 years. While finishing the degree, he began photographing art models for a side project that was intended to be used by sculptors. Because it was for sculptors, the models were photographed on a rotating platform. He eventually formed a publishing company, Live Model Books, to bring collections of these photos to the public. That has become the "Art Models" project and includes hardcover book, disk, and e-book publishing as well as several websites that give artists access to figure photos

About the Author
Dr. Sirois is the Program Director of Veterinary Technology at Penn Foster College. She received her AAS degree in veterinary technology from Camden County College and also holds a BS and an MS in Biology and an Ed.D in instructional technology and distance education. She is certified as both a veterinary technician & laboratory animal technician and has over 20 years experience as a veterinary technician educator in both traditional and distance education programs. Dr. Sirois is a past-president of the Association of Veterinary Technician Educators and a member of the editorial board for Veterinary Technician.

This book is full with interesting information with colorful pictures. You're not only learning about veterinary medicine but also about ethics, laws and management practice within the veterinary practice.

This book is terrible. Actually

This book is terrible. Actually, every veterinary technology book published by Elsevier that I have read has been full of misinformation or repetitive and unnecessary information. The workbook that comes with this book is equally terrible. It asks for information found nowhere in the book, leaving me to Google search the information. And oh god, the fill in the blank bull crap. That's the worst part of the workbook.

Here's one excerpt from this book: "A gerbil can be safely picked up by cupping both hands under it or by grasping the base of the tail to lift it from its cage." WRONG. You NEVER lift a gerbil by its tail. Ever. It says you can draw blood from the central ear artery in a rabbit. No, you can't draw blood from any artery unless you need an arterial sample. There's a big difference and the risk for hematoma and other harmful situations by drawing blood from any artery is greater than getting blood from a vein. There are several other passages that I've found, but I'm not about to go through this entire book again to write it on here. I'm just tired of these text books by Elsevier. The editing is terrible and the information is wrong a lot of the time. The layout is fine. It's much better than some of the other crappy books that my school has assigned. One star because I believe any textbook should have accurate and up-to-date information and should be properly edited .

Great textbook. The diagrams and procedures are very helpful. I would recommend buying the workbook also I just wish you could get the answers to the workbook also.
