About the Author

Koushik Sinha is a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, USA. He has more than a decade of R&D work experience at several renowned organizations such as Qatar Computing Research Institute, Hewlett-Packard Labs, and Honeywell Technology Solutions. He was also a Visiting Scientist at the Indian Statistical Institute, Bangalore. His current research areas include secure and energy-efficient wireless communication in ad hoc and sensor networks, mobile computing, and social computing. He is a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Sasthi C. Ghosh is a faculty member at the Advanced Computing and Microelectronics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta, India. Prior to that, he worked on UMTS network design as a Research Associate in the School of Computer Science, Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK. He also visited the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, McMaster University, Ontario, Canada and the Institute of Mathematical Science, Chennai, India. His current research interests include UMTS network design, wireless mesh networks (WiFi & WiMax), mobile computing, and wireless networks.

Bhabani P. Sinha is a professor at the Advanced Computing and Microelectronics Unit of the Indian Statistical Institute, Calcutta. He also holds a Distinguished Adjunct Professor position at the National Institute of Technology, Arunachal Pradesh, India. He was an Indian Space Research Organization Chair Professor at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, India. He was a Humboldt fellow of Germany and also a visiting faculty of Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, University of Central Florida, Orlando, and Clemson University, South Carolina. He has more than forty years of research experience in the areas of computer architectures, algorithms, parallel and distributed computing, mobile computing, and wireless communication. He served as an editor of the IEEE Transactions on VLSI Systems and as a subject area editor of the Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, USA.

About the Author

Great Intro book!

I really like this book for my Intro to Sociological Theory course. The only real complaint that I have about it is that Dillon somehow manages to discuss Karl Marx and other Conflict Theorists without ever actually calling them Conflict Theorists. I'm not really sure why she chose to not use the word "conflict" but to me, this is a detraction from an otherwise awesome book. Dillon makes theory accessible and easily understandable without oversimplifying or "dumbing down" the materials. Additionally, Dillon provides great everyday examples and connections to current media examples to make the content come alive. The instructor resources are also very helpful and include even more suggestions for media examples and supplementary articles.

This was a book for school so I don't have much to say about it. I think it explained things pretty well. I really enjoyed this course, but I for sure did not read the whole thing. As for the seller, book did not have any problems, came in good condition.

Couldn't put it down!

I absolutely love it! It took me days after receiving it to realize that there was no ribbon marker, and that the sheets weren't silver edged (as was expected), but it is such a beautiful, elegant-feeling devotional bible that what was missing paled in comparison to all that was received in this beautiful package. In this case, the pros far outweigh the cons. The interior is very beautifully designed and I was pleased to find that reading is not hard on my eyes at all. The devotional readings are wonderful, manageable and thought-provoking. It was a real blessing to find a bible in my favorite color combination and in such a wonderful, easy-to-understand translation. Love love love it!!

I bought this Bible after previewing it at Barnes and Nobles as always my purchase's are so much cheaper with Amazon.
The NLT paraphrase is easy to understand and the extra additions of encouragements from various authors through out are lovely and thought provoking. I love the feel of the bible. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is because it is a bit stiff because of the leather and material combo. I am hoping it will ease up with normal wear and tare.

I was totally amazed at the beauty of this bible. The print is teal and the lettering is big enough. It's definitely a woman's bible. But the clarity and even the layout is different. I would totally recommend purchasing this bible which I saw in my church's book store for $50. Reprised here is the classic saga of Willie and Joe, Mauldin's GI "dogfaces" who slogged their way through cartoons set in Italy and France. For frontline black humor, the pair's war-weary image--slouched shoulders, dented helmets, torn uniforms, month-old beards, booze bottle in hand--combined with Mauldin's starkly angular, expressionistic shading and mordant captions yielded an ineffable effect matched by no other illustrator in World War II. He drew them originally for Stars and Stripes, the U.S. Army's newspaper, and many a picture annoyed top brass who wanted to censor him for tweaking the officers' nai{‹}vete{‚}about combat or their privileges in rear areas. He wrote the text for folks back home, explaining the background of incidents inspiring his black-and-white palette, and trenchantly sketched out the character of the average infantryman fighting the great crusade. Superb volume of cartoons created in the trenches of WWII

There were at least seven printings in 1945 of Bill Mauldin's UP FRONT-- my copy is from the 7th run.

On page one of the book, Mauldin claims to not be a writer and that his text is primarily an attempt to explain how the 160 single panel cartoons reproduced here came to exist. Mauldin is easily as fine an author as artist. This unchaptered book presents a unique soldier's-view perspective of the last two momentous years of the war in Europe.

Twenty-two year-old Mauldin traveled as newspaper correspondent with the 45th Infantry Division on the Sicily invasion and Italian campaign. By then he was contributing to STARS AND STRIPES. The cartoon character Willie was based on Bill's friend Irving Richtel, and Willie's buddy Joe was an amalgam of typical G.I.s.

In early '44, Mauldin was given his own jeep to further material-gathering; he created 6 cartoons a week for the soldiers' paper. Career officers found Mauldin's work offensive-- George Patton even threatened to "throw his a-- in jail" when Bill lampooned the General's order that all men were to be clean-shaven. Only the intervention of ETO commander Gen. Eisenhower kept Mauldin from incarceration.

None of that controversy appears in UP FRONT, nor do Mauldin's personal exploits: landing at Anzio, being wounded, promotion to sergeant. What is here however are the many cartoons that helped struggling soldiers maintain their sanity under extremely stressful conditions. It's little wonder then that this fine book went through so many reprintings during its first year of existence.

I Highly Recommend for Gender Transformation Fans.

Possibly some spoilers below.

I have only one negative, so I'll say it first. Personally I wish Sam would have settled for C cup size at the most. I've never been a fan of Double D.

Other than that the book is the best gender transformation I've read. Usually the transformation happens all at once, typically overnight. In this book, it happens part by part and, although I'm usually not big on magic, the magic in this story is believable. There is time to explore some feelings and face the reactions of others.

I could have missed some, but I caught not one spelling or word usage error and not one typo. There were just a couple places near the end where indentation seemed to be a bit of a problem.

I read the whole book in about one day, barely able to leave it for long.

It leaves you hanging a bit, with some mysteries yet to be solved, but sufficiently stands alone. I recommend.

Remember the one thing we all share.

New way to help and explain what can be a gut wrenching decision for some. Especially enjoyed the way the book deals with what I consider the inner shame that we all deal with rather we admit It or not. Shame keeps so many of us hiding behind locked doors and . We all deal with this differently but we all follow the same course, inevitably step out at different times. If we step out at all. The author take the subject at hand and I found the approach more than entertaining. As an old English professor told me was the way to sell books was easy. This was a really good book I loved it

This was a really good book I loved it. It was quite funny and reminded me a bit about myself. Sam was one of the most unaware person ill ever read about. The story ending was good as well. Penelope was a very funny character added to this story. I was happy to find out that somehow Miss Feleen was still alive. I wish that there was a trilogy on this book.
