Bad size and shape, won't stay open.

The content of the book is fine. Mission accomplished. The thing that is driving me nuts is the size and shape of this book is just silly. It is a small, thick hardcover, and it won't stay open on the desk. How am I supposed to make notes or type if I have to hold the book open with both hands?
When I am typing I use a rock to hold the book open, but even this is a balancing act. It's frustrating. I hope the publisher makes the next edition of this book wider with fewer pages so it will stay open.
