BUTTERFLY SPREAD VARIATION

The Put Broken Wing Butterfly Spread aka Skip Strike Butterfly Spread is the opposite of the Call Broken Wing Butterfly strategy. They are both used when traders expect a stocks’ price to remain the same but in the case of the Put Broken Wing it is used as protection against an upwards breakout. In other words, it does not lose money if the price goes up but it will lose more money than a regular Butterfly Spread if it happens to go down. There are 3 steps involved in the execution of the Put Broken Wing Butterfly Spread:
1. Buy 1 In the Money Put option
2. Sell 2 At the Money Put options
3. Buy 1 Out of the Money Put option
Maximum profit is reached if at the expiration of the option the price closes at the middle strike price. A Level 4 options trading account that allows the use of credit spreads is required to use this strategy. I highly recommend Michael Young’s books on the various trading strategies to anyone interested in trading on the stock market.

I found this e-book pretty easy to understand. I love the ITM/ATM put and OTM call examples that were used. I was able to get an understanding of the possible outcome as well as the risks and rewards associated with the Put Broken Wing Butterfly Spread. The book is short so it doesn't take long for you to gain new knowledge on this topic of trading. A++
