Excellent for adults too, soon cursive will be learnt only by adults

I am an 30 something Australian University student who wanted to learn cursive to improve my note taking (I write all day, the lectures are long, yeah I record them too but WRITING not typing is best for retention). I had a troubled schooling as a child (ADD) and didn't learn cursive. This book is EXACTLY what I was searching for, it isn't "dumbed" down for grade school, it speaks to adults too. Someone said it was difficult to read as chapters are all over the place - not true!! The ordering is perfectly logical and on page vii there is a content guide explaining exactly what's in the book. The contents are clear too - in a three ring binder the pages turn like silk, navigating is no problem.
The actual practical part starts at chapter 5 which is fine?! Anyways, the teaching is perfect in the book, the content is excellent and charming.
I read a news article that said they are scrapping cursive in grade school in some countries. Bad idea, kids writing is bad enough (mine was terrible as I grew up with early computers C64, 286,386, pentium - upwards), cursive is the answer and I believe people will learn it as an adult as I am.
I thourogly recommend this wonderful book to teach yourself cursive. Thank you Amazon for selling it although for this particular purchase I had to use OPAS, please ship more internationally!

however IF YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE FREE TIME AND YOU WERE EXPECTING TO OPEN THIS BOOK ON DAY 1 AND BEGIN PRACTICING WITHIN 1 MINUTE

This cursive book is an all-encompassing, comprehensive guide to handwriting. While it definitely WILL help you with your handwriting personal endeavors, I found this book to be organized in a really complicated manner. I was expecting a book where I could open up to page 1 and there would immediately be handwriting exercises to begin. However, this book is not organized in a logical manner. For example, you have to jump to page 115 to get to the "lesson plans". These lesson plans will have you jumping back to pages 1-114 to read on the history/proper form/different types of letters; then the lesson plans will have you jumping forward to pages 120 and beyond to actually begin practicing. It took me an hour to realize this, as I began to read the book from page 1 and onward which was a miserable experience. In addition to this complaint, the author has far too much fluff in the program. The author has too many personal anecdotes and random poems about calligraphy spread throughout the first several pages. Bottom line: This book will help you with your handwriting and will also teach you an abundance about the history of American handwriting, however IF YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE FREE TIME AND YOU WERE EXPECTING TO OPEN THIS BOOK ON DAY 1 AND BEGIN PRACTICING WITHIN 1 MINUTE THEN THIS BOOK IS probably not the best source for you.

Preserving a Wonderful and Beneficial Art Form

A wonderful product that will help me to preserve a beautiful, beneficial art form. I am a lefty who was never taught the proper way to old pen and paper. I am middle-aged so it is too late for me to correct those problems, still I have gained insight and inspiration from this book to do the best I can with my limitations. If you have children, buy this book and teach them the proper method of handwriting, especially if you have left handed children! I wish someone had taken the time to teach me the proper method when I was first learning. It is just too much work to unlearn and start again.
